Beach Cities Health District

Tell us what you did during Active Aging Week to redefine the term "Active."

To encourage community members to redefine aging and take action toward maintaining and improving their health, Beach Cities Health District's Center for Health & Fitness offered nearly 60 free fitness classes including, yoga, Zumba, Silver Sneakers classes and more September 30-October 4. Nearly 10 free workshops were also offered and attended by close to 100 people. Topics included: Moai Match: Join a Free Group Brain, Neck and Back Considerations in the Active Aging Population Robotic Gynecology Foam Roller Basics Healthy Aging Lecture Optimal Aging Workshop Neck and Back Pain Workshop More information and a full schedule can be found at: http://www.beachcitiesgym.org/active-aging-week The average age at the Center for Health & Fitness is 65 and yet many of the members are in better shape than their younger counterparts. Participating Center for Health & Fitness members and community members took to the floor for Zumba and Functional Mat Pilates to show that age is but a number. Their strength, body movements and smiles speak for themselves, redefining aging and showing that the sky is the limit when it comes to what we can still do throughout the aging process (2 images attached).
