What is the Active Aging Week Spirit Award?
Your organization can win one of ten Active Aging Week Spirit Awards
If your organization has a picture that’s worth a thousand words, share it with the world! Upload five images of your community’s Active Aging Week event—pictures that do the most to challenge people’s perceptions of aging. Being active means being engaged in life in a variety of ways, which is why we are accepting photography submissions of activities that are big or small, in a group or solo, physical or mental, swashbuckling or sedate. Reframe aging by capturing the perfect image of active aging and show the world how members of our industry are redefining what it means to be active.
Criteria
Judges will choose the images they feel best captures the spirit of Active Aging Week.
What is the prize?
*Official host site locations that submit an Active Aging Week Spirit Award application with photos and content capturing Active Aging Week programming will gain industry recognition for its efforts by being highlighted in a feature article in the Journal on Active Aging. Your organization will also receive prepared marketing materials such as a press release and preformatted social media announcements. These materials will help your organization add power to its marketing program and outreach efforts with minimal effort.
Why should my organization apply?
The Active Aging Week Spirit Award shines a bright light on your organization. It’s an opportunity to take your local organization’s success story and give it a broader audience. Sharing what your organization is doing within its own community identifies it as an engaged member in the larger industry and helps other members get ideas and inspiration for their communities.
What does my organization need to submit?
Your organization can submit up to five (5) photographs. The photos can be taken by residents, members or staff; however, they can only be submitted by your organization. Along with the photos, we’ll need:
- A short success story that supports the image. Briefly describe the event, the activity, the number of people involved, and the outcome of the event. But remember to make sure the image speaks for itself!
- Signed model release forms for everyone in the photographs.
When and how does my organization apply for the award?
Photographs and accompanying materials can be submitted through the official host site portal from September 22 through November 15, 2022.
Note: You must be a registered official host site to submit your application. To register as an official Active Aging Week host site click on the button below.
