Winchester Gardens

Tell us what you did during Active Aging Week to redefine the term "Active."

During Active Aging week, we offered a variety of programs and events that redefine the term "Active," while also concentrating on our whole-person wellness initiative within our organization. Our residents at Winchester Gardens were able to participate in several fitness and aquatics classes, as well as recreation programs that touched upon our seven dimensions of wellness: physical, emotional, social, intellectual, vocational, environmental, and spiritual. Our programs included: aqua aerobics, Seated body tune up, Yoga for balance, Technology Brain Games, Walking at Winchester, Gentle aqua class, art class, Stick-to-It Workout, Stand Tall Don't Fall Balance class, Total Body Tune up, Fitness Center training, a Women's Table Talk run by a resident, and a documentary - "Dr. Andrew Weil: Healthy Aging." At our community, we utilize a program called Touch Town, where we are also able to broadcast exercise routines, meditation, and tai chi classes on our in-house television channel, for residents who are in their apartments in the mornings.
