Tell us what you did during Active Aging Week to redefine the term "Active."

This year for active aging week we celebrated with a symposium for our residents entitled "Taste of Wellness: Savor what you love and skip what you don't". It was comprised of five mini presentations and activities highlighting the Providence Point "S.P.I.C.E.S (spiritual, physical, intellectual, community, environment, social) of Life". The day started with: What is Active Aging Week and how does it relate to us (our residents). Throughout the rest of the day each wellness team member intermingled mind, body, and spirit activities culminating in two fun social events: Active Aging Week Bingo and a Just Dance party. Additionally we had two fun and innovative pop up fitness classes (one referenced in picture 4) and a thought provoking documentary screening, “Aging in America: Survive or Thrive”, encouraging an open dialogue on what it means to age in America today. Meeting our residents where their needs and interests are, we were able to surpass our previous years attendance and have begun preparing for next years week of celebration.
