Acts Retirement-Life Communities...We celebrated Active Aging Week with a new spin on their annual OlympiActs event. For the first time ever, the competition was virtual. The highly spirited competition was established to promote community unity with an emphasis on fun, friends and fellowship. All 26 Acts communities in 9 different states competed over two weeks from October 5-16. The games were divided between events held in the community and virtual competitions that happened in real time. During this time period approximately 1600 residents and staff were engaged and having fun. The typical games were tweaked to maintain the needed restrictions but even with social distancing, mask wearing, hand sanitizing, and equipment cleaning, the communities got in their OlympiActs spirit. Each community put their best foot forward to bring home the Bronze, Silver or Gold. Whether they won or not, all residents experienced the real prize of fellowship, fun, competition, engagement, concentration, skill, and lots of exercise. This quote from one the resident says it all, “It was nice to feel normal doing something fun, thank you for keeping us active”.
