SUN HEALTH LA LOMA VILLAGE
Tell us what you did during Active Aging Week to redefine the term "Active."
ICAA Active Aging Week is always a fantastic opportunity for Residents and Staff to stay active, healthy, and engaged. A few of the fun events we planned at Sun Health La Loma Village included a non-league pre-season bocce ball tournament, and two firsts -- a Billiards Tournament and a Shuffleboard Tournament. Additionally, we invited two guest speakers. Nature photographer and author Gary Westerhoff showed Residents some amazing wildlife and landscapes of the American West. Sun Health Memory Care Navigator Marty Finley walked us through the ins and outs of that additional level of care. Always looking for ways to challenge our already competitive Residents, the Life Enrichment team encouraged the league bocce players to throw with their non-dominant hand. Some surprising results -- some found the physical imbalance to distracting, bringing awareness to the need for additional activity. Others actually threw better due to the additional concentration and attention to detail!
