Landis Homes
Tell us what you did during Active Aging Week to redefine the term "Active."
Landis Homes kicked off the week with a Community Walk, at which over 150 residents (from all levels of living), staff and children from the onsite daycare participated. Several hundred residents joined together at Fall Fest to celebrate the arrival of fall. The afternoon featured fall-themed refreshments, games, a photo booth, pumpkin decorating and wonderful fellowship. We held a staff versus resident water volleyball game, which attracted many players and spectators for much laughter. Throughout the week, exercise class demos were offered, with an emphasis on relaxation and mindfulness, as Tai Chi and yoga were highlighted. The Dining Services team hosted a cooking demonstration, where residents could to sample creations made with beets. We held a corn hole tournament, with a championship game that lasted 45 minutes, and a music event featuring entertainment from some very talented residents. Residents also had the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents at our Exhibit of the Arts. We closed the week with our annual Blessing of the Pets. During the week, residents and staff participated in a CyberCycle Challenge; Landis Homes was excited to place first! We offered a packet with word games, and also held a collection for a local non-profit organization.
