Tell us what you did during Active Aging Week to redefine the term "Active."
Active Aging Week celebrates the importance of continuing to stay active as you're aging! Our Wellness Team created a variety of programs for our residents. We started with Tai Chi and Qigong and a Fall Prevention lecture with a guest speaker from PRISM. On Wednesday, residents headed over to Egan's Creek to walk the trails, we made our own trail mix to bring with us! When residents arrived back to the community, they participated in brain games and a TED Talk to discuss the impact that exercise has on your mental health. The fun didn't stop there, one of our local musicians joined residents for a "Feel the Beat" upper body work out. They used the beat to guide through a drum lesson, how fun! We had wellness poker to bring a healthy twist on the game, who says you can't have your cake and eat it too! Being mindful is an important piece of your overall wellness so on Friday that was a big focus. Meditation has a powerful impact on the brain. Dr. LeBert joined us for lunch to discuss how to keep your heart strong as you age. This was a wonderful week celebrating our community with Active Aging Week!
