Tell us what you did during Active Aging Week to redefine the term "Active."
During Active Aging Week, the Fitness team encouraged the community to enhance their wellness lifestyle by reinforcing the culture of wellness. Each day we inspired residents and staff to redefine the term 'active' in the various dimensions of wellness that was suited for him/her. Oct. 1st: Take a Hike and Lunch Social: Collaborated with another CCRC to hike the Murphy Farm Trail at Harpers Ferry National Historic Park and socialize at lunch Oct. 2nd: Fitness Workshops: Learned different ways to meet fitness goals by using Versa Bars, Medicine Balls and Kettlebells Oct. 3rd: Managing Stress Using Yoga Practices (Presentation and Practice) Oct. 4th: Healthy Living: Keeping Nutrition Fun Through Aging (Presentation) Oct. 5th: Trees, Wonderful Trees (Presentation) Oct. 6th: Walking Bingo: Community took park in embracing the many connections at the community to get to know each other on a deeper level Oct. 7th: Zumba/Cardio Dance; Fitness Appreciation Ceremony--honoring those active residents who make the choice to experience life satisfaction and the best possible health (each were given a drawstring bag, collapsible water bottle, color therapy notebooks/pencils and a Wellness Passport (booklet to start a new program throughout the community)
