Alzheimer’s disease is a global health crisis. Worldwide, there are an estimated 50 million people living with Alzheimer's and other dementias, including 5.7 million in the United States. 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or a related dementia.
The day with the most light is the day we fight. The Longest Day® is the day with the most light — the summer solstice. And it’s the day the Alzheimer’s Association calls on everyone to fight Alzheimer’s disease by raising funds and awareness for care, support and research. In honor of the summer solstice, stand up to the darkness of Alzheimer’s, by starting a fundraiser during active aging week.
It’s easy to turn your Active Aging Week activity into a fundraiser. Ask for donations to take an exercise class, add a silent auction to your event, or ask participants to join your team and fundraise on social media.
Use the power of many to promote the importance of brain and body health in reducing the risk of Dementia. Together, we can inspire wellness and move one step closer to our ultimate goal: the first survivor of Alzheimer’s.
