"Amalia &Chief Rabbi Dr. Moses Rosen" Old age home

Tell us what you did during Active Aging Week to redefine the term "Active."

In our Senior Home we had several activities, Yoga for Elderly, Gym for Fit, Theater class, Socializing games (Rummy, Backgammon, Playing cards), Art session ( painting and pottery). We have a very active group of elderly called 4th Age Community Arts Center, they are playing in theater acts and the most amazing thing is that many of them are diagnosed with many diseases ( Alzheimer, dementia, mental retard, bipolar syndrome, chronic epilepsy, Parkinson) even though they are participating at most of our activities and are a real example for the rest of our seniors. Because of them we launched an new program based on the principles of Active Aging. We made a study on this active group compared with other seniors with similar diseases but are not active persons and we saw that the active ones keep on a steady level the evolution of their diseases.
