Tell us what you did during Active Aging Week to redefine the term "Active."
During Active Aging Week, Sharon Towers residents started by celebrating the positivity of aging with a walk at our local greenway and "Yoga in the Park." We talked about the social impact of aging, shared some fun facts, and positive attributes that are associated with aging on our trip. We showcased the capability of older adults with a "Power Hour" class that challenged their bodies for one full hour of exercise packed with balance, strength, and cardiovascular exercises. The class was structured so that all fitness levels could participate and the residents were amazed at their own capabilities. We ended the week by promoting the benefits of a healthier lifestyle with a Wellness Fair/Lecture that provided the residents with vital information about successfully aging. Services and information included a Massage Therapist, Registered Dietician, Shoe Specialist, Exercise Physiologists, Registered Nurse, and more!
